Honestly this looks lame voice doesn’t go with the character. Pixar should’ve taken this project & hired Jim Carrey. Same old dry humor expected from the same studio of The Grinch The Finger Merry Kiss My Ass Shirt. The voice doesn’t match classic grumpy Grinch and seems to be more humor bent. I’ll probably watch it but I don’t see the need to reboot it, I guess. It looks good! I would watch it too. However I do agree no one does it like Jim Carrey! And of course I’m partial to the original Grinch Animated Christmas special. But still looks good! I thought this would be a new Grinch Movie that isn’t about Christmas.

I’m still going to see it but you know they could do a Halloween Grinch movie or something, Just doing How the Grinch Stole Christmas is getting overdone. Out of curiosity, was the Grinch’s voice ever described as deep & menacing in the original material, or do people only expect it to be deep because of Boris Karloff’s narration in the 1966 animation It’s not a remake of the MOVIE, it’s an adaptation of The Grinch The Finger Merry Kiss My Ass Shirt. There’s a lot more creative license to gain there, including changing little details like his room and so on. Considering how Illumination adapted Horton and The Lorax, they’re obviously aiming to add their own spin on it rather than match the content or nostalgia factor of the old movie and good for them.

Derek Wiggins I agree with your point, but that doesn’t have anything to do with what I said. Also just curious, where was the product placement in the Lorax? All I remember brand-wise was Ted kissing the Empty-O’s cereal, the O’Hare air brand, and the marshmallows. All of which weren’t real brands. Kyle Gathright Oh right, I always thought it was Illumination since the animation and humour was pretty similar. As for you being skeptical, that’s a good point, I just think it’s unfair to judge this film based on the old Grinch one.
Stephen Strange voice The Grinch, and I’m more used to Karloff voicing the guy and Jim Carry playing the guy in live-action, and why couldn’t we just get an animated film based on that one Halloween special or the crossover with the Cat in the Hat. I would have never known that is Benedict’s voice unless told so. Definitely sounds very different than his own voice or any other character he’s portrayed. Not the kind of tone I would ever expect to hear from him. Kind of interested to see how it pans out over the whole story.
